Community Engagement

York University is proud of its reputation as a socially responsive and engaged university, and is committed to improving access to university education among mature, part-time students and first-generation students (those who are the first in their families to pursue post-secondary studies). Our commitment to social justice and accessible education, clearly articulated in our Mission Statement, continues to be demonstrated through our wide range of community engagement activities, academic programs and research activities.

Canada @ 150 York University Fund

In 2017, Canada will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation. In order to engage members of the University community  in the celebration of this important milestone, the University has established a fund to support initiatives related to Canada 150 that explore in some way not just Canada’s past, but also look to the future to explore a vision for Canada for the next 150 years.

President For A Day

In our efforts to engage students, every year President Mamdouh Shoukri will swap roles with a York University undergraduate student for a day and learn what student life is like. The lucky student will then experience what it is like to be "President for a Day". All undergraduate students are welcome to submit an application to serve as president for a day.
