On June 21, 2016, York University unveiled an Inuit sculpture at the York Stadium entrance. The sculpture, "Ahqahizu," was carved by Inuit artists Ruben Komangapik and Koomuatuk (Kuzy) Curley as part of the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded Mobilizing Inuit Cultural Heritage project. The unveiling ceremony included performances from traditional Inuk drummer Mathew Nuqingaq and Inuk musician Susan Aglukark.
